At the king's code, we practice sovereignty with money
That means you choose how much money you invest to be here.
We practice this for two primary reasons:Â
- Â Every man's reality is different. It is impossible for us to set a price that works for all men.Â
- This practice provides the opportunity for men to practice sovereignty in an area of their lives that is commonly run by fear, control, avoidance, distrust, scarcity, pride, self-worth issues, and a lack of faith.Â
Sovereignty here means you are responsible for your choice, and you are free from anything that may be holding you back from living as the man you were born to be.Â
This is different than most consumer-based transactions
Most men are used to relating to money as consumers. Â
This practice is designed to flip consumerism on its head.Â
Instead of, “What are you giving me to justify the money I am giving you” (consumer), we ask, “What do I want/need to invest in order to get what I want here” (sovereign).Â
This practice puts the power in your hands. What you get out of this will depend heavily on how you use it.Â
We understand this can be challenging, given we live in a consumer society. But we believe this is a worthy challenge.Â
What your investment is for
Your investment is for you and for the TKC community.Â
The money supports TKC to continue to have an impact on men’s lives.Â
It is also for you. Â
Your investment is a way to signal your commitment to yourself and your growth. It is a way to back yourself and why you are here.Â
The amount you choose should reflect what you stand to gain and what it will take for you to stay committed.Â
How to choose your amount
You have two goals in this:
- You choose an amount that has you invested in yourself, the brotherhood, and the growth you are here for.
- Your choice is coming from freedom and sovereignty.
Use the following process to choose a number you believe will best serve you and your evolution.Â
Ask yourself:
- Why am I here?
- What am I here to get / create here?
- What is that worth to me?Â
- What amount will have me take myself seriously and stay engaged here?Â
- What amount can I stand behind?
You should now have a number.Â
You should feel stretched by your commitment. Your goals for being here should put you outside of your comfort zone; your investment should match that.Â
It is common for men to have some feelings come up; fear, self-doubt, and frustration are normal.
The goal is to not let your feelings make you back down. Instead, let those feelings fuel your commitment to get what you’re here for.Â
Now, test yourself with these questions and common mistakes, and revise your number as needed:
- Does your number feel like a stretch in some way?Â
- Is your number so high that it will sabotage your life?
- Is your number so low that it feels comfortable and may not support your commitment?Â
- Is fear, control, avoidance, frustration, resentment, distrust of others, scarcity, self-worth issues, or lack of faith driving your number up or down?Â
- Are you willing to do what it takes to stand behind your commitment and investment?Â
Common mistakes:
- Waiting for someone else to choose an amount for you.
- Choosing your number based on what someone else is paying.
- Letting fear dictate your number
- Basing your number solely on what is being given to you by others.Â
- Paying more just for the approval of others.Â
- Paying less because you’re not yet sure if you can trust yourself or others.Â
- Paying less because you think you need a bargain.
Revisit this process as much as you need until you land on a number you truly believe will best serve you.Â
You can revisit your amount
Your number is not meant to be a perfect fit forever.Â
Many men will change their investment as their reality changes.Â
If you realize your number is too low and it’s causing you to not show up, raise it.
If you realize your number is too high and it’s causing an inability to show up, lower it.
Do not just disappear or quietly resent the group. Stay honest with yourself and communicate.Â
Our role in this
You will share your number with our team and explain how it serves you.Â
Our goal is to support you to make the best choice you can.Â
We may ask questions, celebrate you, or challenge you.Â
But the choice is your own.Â
Once you choose it, own it.Â
Then pay attention to how it impacts your experience.Â
What your payment supports
Your investment supports and helps grow The King's Code and its mission to initiate men into lives of greater responsibility, freedom, service, and leadership.
It allows us to support facilitators, mentors, events, administration, technology, and future offerings for men.
Most importantly, your investment is an investment in yourself and the man you were born to be.Â
